Nicolas Jackson must pass a medical examination at Bournemouth Wednesday to complete his move from Villarreal. Bournemouth will pay €23m (£20.4m) plus €2.5m in add-ons for the striker.
Jackson, who is part of Senegal’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar, can play anywhere on the front line and has scored two goals in 14 La Liga appearances this season. He would be Bournemouth’s second purchase in January, after the £20million winger Dango Ouattara.
Bournemouth owner Bill Foley completed its takeover last month and is making funds available in an attempt to maintain its top-tier status. The team has four points from its last 10 games, last Saturday draw at home to Nottingham Forest ending a series of four consecutive defeats in the league.
