Former cricketer Wasim Akram has shed some light on former PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja in his exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan.
While commenting on the recent ousting of Raja from the post of chairman, Akram pointed out that there is no need for a cricketer to be the head of the PCB.
“He came for six days, now he is back in his original place. Najam Sethi has experience. I think it is a wrong concept, that cricketers should be the chairman of the PCB. It’s an administrative job, so you need to have good communication with all the councils. Najam Sethi is the right man for you. I don’t care if people get angry,” Akram said.

The former leader also gave his two cents on the controversy surrounding the hosting of the 2023 Asian Cup.
“Najam Sethi gave a very sensible answer. Everything depends on the approval of the two governments. You have to speak correctly [with boards]. It’s not ravine cricket, that if you don’t come, we won’t go to your country either. I don’t understand who these kids are who come to race cricket in Pakistan,” he added.
Earlier, India had expressed reluctance to send their team to Pakistan for the Asian Cup later in September this year. In response, the then PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja said that if India did not participate in the tournament, we would not participate in the scheduled 2023 ICC World Cup in India.
However, PCB has now secured an emergency meeting with Asian Cricket Council (ACC) officials on February 4 in Bahrain, to resolve the matter out of court.
