‘Completely lost’: Brett Lee on Arshdeep Singh’s ‘unfortunate’ balloonless show | Cricket News

Arshdeep Singh had a horror outing a fortnight ago as the young pacer became the first bowler in T20I history to go five balls without a ball in a game. Arshdeep registered the unwanted record in a T20I against Sri Lanka in Pune. As a result of his overrun, India conceded 16 points and lost the game by the exact margin. Notably, Arshdeep had returned to the Indian XI in that match, after recovering from injury. Now former Aussie pacer Brett Lee shared his take on the “balloonless” show, suggesting that Arshdeep “completely lost it.”

“I saw Indian Arshdeep Singh completely lose it in that T20 game against Sri Lanka a few days ago. He threw no ball after no ball after no ball. 5 balls in that game. This would be a tough pill for him to swallow. He played just two overs conceding 37. And he was coming back to the side after being sidelined with injury. He has overshot three times in a row. in their second over. Sometimes a bowler can lose momentum when they come back from injury because they try too hard. They lose their form and momentum. It’s hard because you want to achieve that dream of pick wickets and keep the captain happy” Lee said in a video uploaded to his YouTube channel.

However, Lee is convinced that Arshdeep has the ability to make a comeback and advised the youngster to start over.

“No ball is a bowler’s worst enemy. Nothing costs a bowler more mental agony and embarrassment than an absence of a ball, because not only do you have to throw an extra delivery, but you give the batter the license to do whatever he wants. It’s a dagger in the bowler’s heart. I believe Arshdeep has the wherewithal to back it up. My advice to him would be to get back into practice, scrap him, to find out what you did wrong and learn from that mistake,” he added.

Arshdeep hasn’t found a place in India’s squad for the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand but could feature in the upcoming T20Is against the Kiwis.
