Dravid recently said that the Indian squad is in a rebuilding phase as the ‘next round of T20 (World Cup)’ has begun. He added that the youngsters will be treated patiently and will continue to have the support of the team management.
“For us it was a slightly different scenario (in the T20I series against Sri Lanka) in the sense that since the last game we played against England in the semi-finals of the World Cup, we haven’t Probably only have 3-4 boys in the XI play (now),” he said.
“So we’re at a slightly different stage to look at the next round of (the) T20 (World Cup). So a slightly younger squad.”
As the focus shifts to the 50+ World Cup in India, Dravid thinks now is the right time to give as many opportunities as possible to the youngsters in the T20s,” he said.
“The good thing is that this year we have the World Cup (50). Because the focus will be on the World Cup 50 and the World Test Championship, at least the T20 matches we have , it probably gives us the opportunity to try a lot of young people.”
