Harrogate Town 1-3 Colchester United

Colchester secured back-to-back league wins for the first time this season with a 3-1 triumph at Harrogate.

Luke Armstrong’s eighth goal in nine matches proved the only highlight of the afternoon for the hosts.

The visitors took the lead in the 12th minute when Tchamadeu pulled the ball back from the straight and Akind took a throw-in before firing powerfully inside Pete Jameson’s far post from 15 yards out.

Harrogate nearly equalized immediately when Danny Grant shook a post and Alex Pattison’s follow-up effort was saved well by Kieran O’Hara.

Instead, Colchester doubled their advantage just after the quarter-hour when Tom Dallison rose to assist a Luke Chambers free-kick into the box and Chilvers’ close-range header beat Jameson.

Matt Bloomfield’s men made it 3-0 early in the second half after Harrogate full-back Kayne Ramsay carelessly gave the ball away.

Samson Tovide passed Rory McArdle and Warren Burrell down the left channel before selflessly battling for Tchamadeu to find an inviting net from 10 yards out.

The hosts grabbed a 77th-minute consolation as Armstrong grouped the ball one yard past Grant’s cross from the left.
