Gollan pinned his main Millions hope on what turned out to be a successful route

Skirt The Law’s physical build, combined with what has proven to be a Magic Millions winning formula, is why Tony Gollan’s best two-year-old will be in action at the Gold Coast this Saturday.

The Better Than Ready daughter will be looking to extend her unbeaten run to three in the $150,000 Gold Pearl for two-year-old fillies.

The 1100m event takes place only seven days before its grand finale, the $2.5 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) on the Gold Coastbut Gollan said that had always been his preferred approach.

“It’s worked very effectively for other trainers and other horses over the years and she’s shaping up to be the right kind of horse for it,” he said.

“She’s very strong – she’s not that feminine, she’s more like a little colt – so I think the seven-day comeback will be perfect for her.

“She still has to show us that she is at this level. The good two-year-olds who pulled back and did well (in the Magic Millions) were very good the week before, so if it is very good on Saturday, you will see it again very good the week after.

Coolangatta won last year Magic Millions 2 Year Classic after a 20-day break, but six of the previous nine Millions winners, including four of the previous five, have moved back.

Shaquero won the Millions after a narrow second in the Gold Nugget seven days earlier, while the other five to win on the back-up – Real Surreal (2013), Le Chef (2015), Houtzen (2017), Sunlight ( 2018) and Exhilarates (2019) – all won the previous week.

Skirt The Law will be highly regarded this weekend after following up their first 2-3/4 win at Doomben on Nov. 12 with a 5-1/4 romp at the same track on Dec. 3.

Excel D’Or, Just Glamourous, She’s A Rogue and Tracy’s Spirit are among his potential rivals in one of two underage events at the Gold Coast this weekend.

Godfather, part of the mighty Millions arsenal of Peter and Paul Snowden, leads the entries for the Gold Nugget, which also includes Magic Millions runner-up Wyong Classic Quasimoto and Famous, who has had impressive tries on multiple occasions at Sidney.
