Pelé’s daughter says she and her family are enduring ‘sadness and despair’ in an emotional post on social media as the 82-year-old Brazilian soccer icon nears a month in hospital
The daughter of Brazilian football great Pele has posted a philosophical caption alongside a family photo on social media as her famous father continues his fight for life.
Pele’s family have reunited in hospital as his condition worsens – with Kely Nascimento sharing yet another hospital moment as the Brazil legend nears a month in hospital.
The three-time World Cup winner’s cancer has progressed and doctors at Albert Einstein Hospital recently said he was in ‘intensive care’ for ‘kidney and heart dysfunction’.
Kely Nascimento posted a photo of his smiling family as his father, Pelé, remains in hospital
Pelé was admitted to the Sao Paulo facility on November 29. The hospital did not issue any updates last week.
Taking to Instagram, Nascimento posted a family photo including his sister Flavia and Pelé’s grandchildren, Octavio Felinto Neto and Gabriel Arantes.
“These moments are hard to explain,” Nascimento wrote. “Sometimes there is a lot of sadness and despair, other times we laugh and talk about funny memories.
“And what we learn the most from all of this is that we have to look for each other and stick together. Only when it’s all worth it. With it all together.
On Tuesday, she posted a happier photo of her family and the Brazilian tall at a Gala event in Pequeno Principe, a health center.
“Time flies, happy times are forever,” she added to the lovely image.
Nascimento also shared a Christmas Day photo of Israelita Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with a touching caption.

Pele’s daughter also shared an old photo of herself by his side during an event at the health center
She took to her Instagram profile later that day to express her gratitude to the medical staff at the hospital.
“We still have so much to be grateful for, even spending Christmas in the hospital, we are aware of the privilege of being in a hospital like @hosp_einstein,” she wrote.
‘To see our father cared for by these professional, super competent and extremely loving people.’
Greats like Rivaldo and football fans around the world have paid tribute and prayed for the health of one of football’s most famous sons.

She posted a picture of her family on Instagram the night of Christmas Day alongside a message thanking hospital staff for caring for the 82-year-old footballer.
The Brazilian icon had a colon tumor removed in September 2021 but was readmitted to hospital last month.
A hospital statement released last week said Pele needed further care “related to kidney and heart dysfunction”.
Pelé’s daughter has confirmed that family members will be spending Christmas with him in hospital and that grandchildren will also join him.
Pele is widely regarded as the greatest Brazilian player of all time and he was able to watch his country’s campaign at the World Cup in Qatar, despite being hospitalized.

Pelé, considered one of the greatest footballers of all time, won three World Cups with Brazil
He burst onto the world stage as a 17-year-old at the 1958 World Cup, helping Brazil win the first of their record five wins, before also winning the 1962 and 1970 World Cups with the national team.
One of Pele’s former rivals, Romario, wished him well in a recent social media video.
Talk to Ge Globo, Romario said: ‘King, get better. So much faith. The whole world is looking for you and praying for you. Improvements! I kiss your heart.

Former Brazilian striker Romario took to Brazilian TV to wish Pele all the best in a recent video
