The Melbourne Renegades are having a blistering run in the current 2022-23 Big Bash League season. The Melbourne-based franchise sit second in the points table and have gone unbeaten in all three games so far. In their previous match, the Nic MaddinsonThe club-led side recorded a four-wicket win over Brisbane Heat and completed their hat-trick of wins. However, a very strange incident happened in the Renegades’ first clash against Brisbane Heat which left commentators and players perplexed.

This happened in round nine for the Renegades when their skipper Maddinson was on strike. Maddinson played a hit on Marc Steketeeis delivery and tried to run for a single. But the sureties fell out of the stumps and everyone assumed it was a box office incident. However, the story took an odd turn when the replay confirmed Maddinson didn’t even get close to the stumps and the bails fell off on their own.

The incident left everyone confused and Maddinson was declared not eliminated by the third referee.

Coming to the game, Maddinson crushed 87 carries on 49 balls and took his side a total of 166/7 in 20 overs. In return, Brisbane Heat were limited to 144/6, thanks to Akeal Hossein’s three-wicket carry.

The Melbourne Renegades will now face the Hobart Hurricanes while the Brisbane Heat face the Adelaide Strikers in their next game.
