Gloucester Rugby are delighted to announce the arrival of George McGuigan who has signed a long-term contract with Cherry & Whites.
The 29-year-old hooker has amassed more than 180 Gallagher Premiership caps, for both Newcastle Falcons and Leicester Tigers, and was named in England’s training squad in June 2022.
The abrasive frontline striker is credited with his impressive try-scoring abilities, which have seen him come through the whitewash seven times this season, including once at Kingsholm. He will join the Gloucester squad on Tuesday.
McGuigan will provide immediate cover for Jack Singleton who suffered a serious leg injury in Gloucester’s 34-19 win over Northampton Saints.
Commenting on the announcement, Gloucester Rugby head coach George Skivington said:
“It’s a huge boost for the club that we’ve been able to find someone of George’s talent. Although he will provide extra cover in Jack’s absence, he’s with us for the long haul, and I’m delighted to see the role he can play in helping the club achieve their ambitions this season and beyond.
