Australian publication claims Leigh Leopards star set to return to NRL as seven potential destinations are named – Rugby League News

After Nene MacDonald left for the Leeds Rhinos, the Leigh Leopards side seemed finally settled as they finally complied with Super League quota rules when it came to foreign players.

However, following the announcement, Rugby League Live reported that another foreign star from Leigh Sports Village was set to leave the club due to homesickness.

This is of course the star signing of Blake Ferguson. The former NRL winner left the competition for rugby union before moving to Leigh Leopards.

He helped them win the 1895 Cup Final at the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium, finishing top of the Championship before guiding the club to promotion to the Super League with victory over Batley Bulldogs in the Championship Grand Final as he scored tries for fun and was considered the in-form player in the UK by some.

Leigh did well to tie him down to a two-year Super League deal, after all there had been rumors that NRL clubs were interested before moving to the then Centurions.

He was listed in the Leopards team reveal in 2023, as was MacDonald for that matter, but now he’s about to go home due to homesickness and according to Zerotackle he’s about to return to the NRL with a number of clubs that could potentially have an interest in him.

The Dolphins, Titans, Manly, North Queensland, Penrith, St George Illawarra and the Roosters could all have interest according to the publication, although they have all established backlines for the new season.
