The route and timing of the Queen’s funeral procession in September was one of the reasons for the final bid for a bronze model of the late monarch with mare and foal reaching 165,000 gns (£173,250 / £200 €738) at Tattersalls on Monday.
Twelve bronze models measuring 60cm x 45cm x 40cm were copies of the statue which stands at the entrance to Rowley Mile Racecourse in Newmarket, but only one has been offered for sale.
Group 1 owner Marc Chan was behind the final bid which raised funds for the National Horse Racing Museum.

A spokesperson for Chan has revealed his two-time Group 1 winner Kinross crossed the line in the Group 2 Park Stakes in Doncaster at the same time as the Queen’s motorcade passed through the town of the same name to lay down in state .
Bloodstock agent Jamie McCalmont, who purchased the model on Chan’s behalf, said: “There were three reasons why Mr. Chan was so keen to acquire the model. On September 11, the funeral procession bearing the The Queen’s coffin was heading from Balmoral to Edinburgh, passing through the town of Kinross, the horse of the same name owned by Mr Chan was gaining at Doncaster.
“Second, he was a great admirer of the late Queen Elizabeth, with immense respect for her, her dedication and love of horse racing, and as patron of the National Horse Racing Museum.
“He had seen and admired the model on display in the gallery as well as other private property when he visited Newmarket, and had been very impressed with the bronze.

“Third, he had visited the National Horse Racing Museum this summer with his family and had been so impressed with the venue, exhibits and staff, particularly enjoying the horse equicizer, and really wanted to show his support for the organization . “
