How Sunderland owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus’ wealth compares to Leeds United, Chelsea and Newcastle United

Louis-Dreyfus bought the club in February 2021 and as he negotiated full governance control, it was confirmed earlier this year that he held just 41 per cent of the shares. This figure has now risen to 51%.

The move also marked the end of a controversial bid by cryptocurrency group “The Fans Together,” which announced this summer that it was in talks with Stewart Donald and Charlie Methven.

Louis-Dreyfus had responded to this offer by declaring his close alliance with Juan Sartori moving forward. Sartori has also increased his stake in the club, now owning 30%. Sunderland said the governance of the club would remain unchanged.
