Richard Fahey talks about his week at sales and The Platinum Queen’s bid for Prix de l’Abbaye glory at Longchamp on Sunday.
It’s been quite a busy week to prepare for The Platinum Queen for Arc weekend, while we also bought four from the Goffs sale, so we were quite happy.
The ones we really want required a bit of buying, I’m not surprised at that, but the four we got we were happy with. I would expect us to be a little more active at the Goffs Sportsman sale this week.
We have a beautiful colt Mehmas, a Dark Angel, with whom we had a lot of luck, the same with Acclamation and a Dandy Man too, with whom we managed just as well. We had people like Ventura Diamond, who is racing this weekend, and Peniaphobia, who was a star, from him.
We don’t have the ability to buy the ones we really want, but we’re getting the most out of them, so hopefully we’ll have some luck.

THE PLATINUM QUEEN – 4.25 Longchamp
She is in great shape before the Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp Longines, she has really blossomed at home.
We’re happy with her, she looks great and we’ll see what happens now. I’d be a little concerned if it got heavy, but at least she proved in Doncaster that she handles a bit of cutting into the ground.
It would be great if she could get out quickly and put them behind, that would be the plan. The main thing is how she is physically and I couldn’t have been happier since Doncaster.
