Adayar: will not run in the Arc

Derby winner last year adayar will not run in Sunday’s Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (3.05) after being withdrawn in the second stage by forfeit on Tuesday.

The four-year-old had been Britain’s second-cheapest prospect behind Alpinista in Europe’s richest race, having made a successful seasonal reappearance at the Doncaster meeting at St Leger earlier this month.

However, the Godolphin-owned colt, who had an overall 7-1 chance, won’t get a chance to improve on his fourth-place effort in last year’s Arc, the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot on October 15 being preferred.

Connections believe conditions at the Berkshire track are more likely to suit Adayar, with the ground at Longchamp on Tuesday morning being described as a mix of good to soft and mild after 9mm of rain over the past 24 hours.

In a statement via Twitter, Godolphin said: “Following discussions yesterday, it has been decided that Adayar will miss the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and head to the Champion Stakes instead. where conditions are likely to suit him best.
