Munster: November clash with South Africa Select XV sold out

Munster have announced that their highly anticipated match against a South Africa Select XV at Pairc Ui Chaoimh on November 10 is sold out.

The Springboks will face Ireland, France, Italy and England in the Autumn Nations series while the SA Select XV will meet Munster and Bristol Bears.

Munster have faced South Africa three times in the past and have yet to score a victory over them, with this new chance to end this drought.

Rush for match tickets

Unsurprisingly, the rush for tickets was rampant and the United Rugby Championship team announced the news on Friday, two months before kick-off.

“After an extremely busy opening day with general ticket sales on Tuesday, Munster Rugby can now confirm that the next match with South Africa Select XV at Pairc Ui Chaoimh on November 10 is sold out,” read the statement released by Munster.

“Following a huge presale turnout for MRSC members and other priority groups, all booth tickets were sold out within minutes of the general ticket sale going on sale on Tuesday.

“With a sold-out crowd for Pairc Ui Chaoimh, the remaining terrace tickets were purchased on Friday afternoon for this historic clash with an incredible night in store for the outstanding turnout.”

The statement continued: “Munster Rugby would like to take this opportunity to thank the superb support and commitment he has shown in supporting the team on what will be a very special occasion.”

Bok manager Jacques Nienaber was part of Munster’s backroom team alongside Rassie Erasmus in 2016 and 2017 and was delighted when the game was added.

Great test for SA gamers

“Munster are a giant force in Ireland, and they will give SA Select XV exactly the kind of test we need to build combinations and player depth as we prepare for the Rugby World Cup next year,” he said at the time.

“We have worked with a great team this year to give a wider group of players a chance to claim places for the Rugby World Cup and beyond, and playing top-flight opponents such as Munster and Bristol , I have no doubt we will get some of the answers we need with the international extravaganza in about a year.

He added: “We haven’t had a proper rugby tour with midweek matches for a number of years so we’re very excited about the opportunity.”
