Returned to form with a comfortable win at Newmarket earlier this month, MC’TED hit the front two furlongs and just needed to be kept at his job from there to land the one-and-three-quarter-length booty. It will be more difficult from a higher 5-pound mark, but it is still potentially well processed judging by its shape choice. After all, he’s lining up today from a BHA mark of 65 having won 64 on this course and distance as recently as May.

Best not to be judged on his last effort at Chelmsford, having never managed to agree after missing the start. It was only the third round of NEW DIMENSIONand his first on a handicap, so it’s highly unlikely we’ve seen the best of him yet. Trained by Sir Michael Stoute, he is certainly in good hands for further development and gelding operation as his handicap debut at Chelmsford may well do just that.

Could only manage sixth when well backed at Southwell last time out but had valid excuses given that CANCAN IN THE RAIN got away from the other principals on the disadvantaged part of the track. He has now offered something to work on in his two starts and it looks like a regular novice in which he is setting the standard for form. He’s likely to progress further and should mount a bold bid to break the pack under Harry Davies, who is excellent value for his 3-pound claim.

MANHUA showed improved form when third in a novice event at Wolverhampton last time out, although he fell short of the top two. He is now moving to nurseries and is definitely one to keep on the safe side in a weak contest. A BHA mark of 67 certainly seems like a good starting point for life in this area and Connor Planas still puts on 7 pounds on his back. Moving to a mile is also likely to bring a little more improvement.

The selection have been in fine form in their last two starts, winning first on this course in June and then at least as good in defeat in second place at Leicester three weeks ago. He was only beaten by half a length on the last chance, coming from deep to push the winner all the way. He’s only 2 pounds heavier in the weights today and it seems like a perfect opportunity to CUBANIST resume the winning ways if you continue in the same rich vein of form.

Still a young girl after 11 starts but did nothing wrong suffering a narrow defeat at Brighton last week, staying well to go past the post just a nose behind the winner. She was ahead in a few more strides and it’s probably only a matter of time before THE DAUGHTER OF ROSE belatedly opens his account on this proof. She can line up from the same mark today and is worth another shot at a well-deserved first win.

BEAUTY CHOICE took a step back in the right direction when first fitted with blinders at Newmarket earlier this month, sticking well to his task to be beaten within two lengths. He could probably see his marked effort given that he was still galloping hard and the other principals were all coming from further away. He’s still 6lbs below his last win mark and the way he trained last time out suggests he might be ready to end his losing streak.
