Despite interest in France, Manu Tuilagi is heading for a move to the Far East to play in the Japan Rugby League after the 2023 Rugby World Cup, according to The Rugby Paper.
Tuilagi, who is due to leave the North West next June when his contract expires, was very enthusiastic about joining Racing 92 but the Top 14 cooled on a possible transfer.
The Parisians were willing to pay Tuilagi around £830,000 a year in 2019more than double what Sale currently pays him.
Tuilagi, who had actually visited his training ground when the previous offer was on the table, was only barred from joining after crisis talks with England boss Eddie Jones.
There is also considerable interest from clubs in the United States, but Japan are now the favorites to land the power centre.
DID YOU KNOW? He was named Manusamoa after the Samoa national team, Manu Samoa, because his brother Freddie was selected for Samoa in the 1991 World Cup, the year Manu was born.

Tuilagi shows incredible body transformation ahead of new season
Manu Tuilagi has secured his return to Sale Sharks pre-season in the best possible shape after sharing a glimpse of his physique as he appears to be involved in England’s 2023 World Cup campaign.
The reduced England center lost 2kg after ending his guilty pleasure of gorging on food.
Now without crutches, the center has continued to lose weight as he seeks to reduce his risk of injury.
Heading into summer, Tuilagi tipped the scales at 114kg (17 stone 9lb), but lost six kg [10lbs] and is expected to drop a stone in weight after two or three games into the club’s season.
“I like my food. It’s all about mentality, you probably think you’ll be fine and you’ll be fine, until you think about it and change your mindset.
“Running for 80 minutes, that 2kg can weigh you down a bit, so we thought we’d lose a bit of weight and that would allow us to be a bit more mobile, a bit more agile.”
