Billings Sam took a superb catch on Tuesday during England A’s ongoing training match against South Africa at the St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury. On the first day of the four-day contest, England’s pacesetter Craig Overton launched an end-to-end delivery from the South African skipper Dean Elgar and the latter got ahead of him by trying to play his shot with his front foot. The ball flew between wicketkeeper Billings and the first slide, and was off before the first quickly dipped to his left and caught it before it hit the ground.

England Cricket posted the video of the catch on social media, praising Billings for his outstanding catch. “What a surprise @sambillings,” the caption read.

Following the conclusion of the current four-day training match, England and South Africa will face off in a three-match Test series, starting August 17 at Lord’s, London. The second match kicks off on August 25 at Old Trafford, Manchester, while the teams return to London for the third match which is due to start on September 8 at the Kennington Oval.

Both teams enter the Test series having played six white ball games. While the three-game ODI streak between them ended in a 1-1 draw after rain played spoilsport in the deciding match, the T20I streak of as many games saw South Africa South record a 2-1 win despite losing the opener.
