May Day has passed and now out-of-contract stars can talk and negotiate with other clubs.
This, of course, sends the rumor mill into overdrive with anyone and everyone related to this time of year. And, although the transfer market is closed for the time being, clubs will still be able to roll and negotiate at the end of the year for 2023.
With Jake Trueman already heading to MKM Stadium and Will Smith and Tex Hoy joining them, who else might be on Brett Hodgson’s radar in 2023?
Brad Dwyer – Leeds Rhinos
Hull FC’s Danny Houghton is a mainstay at the club, but there comes a time when you know a career is coming to an end – and that time may be now for the hooker. As such, Brett Hodgson will more than likely be keeping tabs on a number 9. Brad Dwyer fits the bill perfectly with his sniping around the ruck being even more effective behind a huge pack like Hull FC. Dwyer has arguably been one of Leeds’ most consistent players in recent years, but with new boss Rohan Smith looking to prefer Corey Johnson, Kruise Leeming and Jarrod O’Connor there, that doesn’t leave much to say. the former man from Warrington. game time hope.
John Asiata – Leigh Centurions
It is well known that Leigh will have to get rid of a number of their overseas stars if they gain promotion to the Super League given quota regulations in the top flight. But, where do they start? John Asiata has been brilliant for the Centurions in the Championship so far this season and is certainly a Super League player. Hull are crying out for a ball striker who can link forwards to full-backs and Asiata is doing just that for Leigh under Adrian Lam.
Jake Wardle – Huddersfield Giants/Warrington Wolves
With Jake Wardle on loan at Warrington after being on the outskirts of Huddersfield, the center could well be up for grabs at the end of 2022. While a Wolves deal is likely, who’s to say a big offer from Hull wouldn’t be. . turn things around? The Blacks and Whites have a few aging centers like Carlos Tuimavave and Josh Griffin, and while Connor Wynne and Cameron Scott are very much in Brett Hodgson’s thinking, Wardle is a ready-made candidate.
