Pujara and KL Rahul said ‘If he scores a 100, might as well jump off a building’: Indian bowler’s stunning revelation

indians Cheteshwar Pujara and KL Rahul are two of the best hitters in the country of the current generation. Both have proven to be stalwarts of the Indian stick in international cricket. While one was the solid at No. 3 for India in testing, the other was a revelation in all three formats. Both hitters boast terrific careers and records, but that said, there have been times when their teammates, with far less batting credentials, have performed better than them. One such incident took place in 2019 during the Indian tour of the West Indies in the Test series. (India vs England 1st ODI Live Score)

In Game 2 of the series, India after being batted down to 46/2 with Rahul and Pujara falling cheaply but half a century of Mayank Agarwal and Virat Kohli steadied the innings . Hanuma Vihari had also scored a century, but while all of these hits were expected, the one that wasn’t was Ishant Sharma slamming his first Test fifty. Ishant 57 on just 80 balls with help from seven fours en route to recording his all-time highest Test score. As everyone was celebrating Ishant’s 50th birthday from the dressing room, the Indian pacer revealed the lighter incidents that happened in the dressing room between Pujara, Rahul and even the then captain, Virat Kohli.

“Virat is one of those who speaks out a lot on the pitch. Like when I too scored half a century, he couldn’t believe it. So these things keep happening in our team. When I was beating , Pujara and KL Rahul said, “If he scores a 100, might as well jump off a building in Jamaica” because they were out quick. So these things are always fun. And Virat, as I said, is way too expressive,” Ishant told sportscaster Jatin Sapru on her YouTube show “The Warm-Up Show.”

Ishant scored 785 points for India in 105 Tests. Besides the 57 against West Indies, Ishant also produced 31s against Sri Lanka and West Indies and helped India’s tail wag on several occasions. He formed successful lower-order partnerships, often saving his team from trouble when the odds were against them.
