Inspiral suffered a surprise defeat in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket for the reconciled pairing of Frankie Dettori and John Gosden.
But Inspiral, who were unbeaten in five, were beaten by Prosperous Voyage, a 16-1 shot mounted by Rob Hornby.
Before Thursday, Dettori had not driven for Gosden since June 18 after criticizing his races at Royal Ascot.
Gosden criticized Dettori’s rides on Stradivarius and Saga, with the 51-year-old jockey later replaced by two riders at Newmarket.
Of the reunion, Dettori said: “I’m 51 and John is 71. We talked, we’re not kids anymore so we worked things out and now we’re looking forward to it.
“What was said will remain behind closed doors and between us. We had to iron out some things, but that’s in the past.
“It would have been a shame to end it like this – we’ve been friends for 30 years and I’ll be forever grateful to him.”
Gosden added, “Nobody likes to do things in the public domain, but there was no other choice.
“It’s all becoming a very boring topic now. It’s good that we’re back together and happy.”
