Max Verstappen has a range of new upgrades for the Austrian Grand Prix as Red Bull hopes to widen the gap to Ferrari and Mercedes. Red Bull have modified their floor and their brakes in an attempt to widen the gap with their championship opponents.
The new floor receives a minor geometry change in search of better flow stability at different ride heights. The front brake disc heat shield has also been given extra clearance to prevent overheating.
An additional cooling duct was also installed as a precaution due to the high temperatures encountered at the Red Bull Ring. Verstappen retired from that race in the season-opening round in 2020, but otherwise dominated at Spielberg.
The Dutchman has won four times on the track since 2018, including twice last year at the Austrian and Styrian Grands Prix.

The Mexican revealed that he was not so comfortable with the car since new updates were installed. The Red Bull driver won the Monaco Grand Prix and took pole in Jeddah, but has since fallen.
Perez was unable to capitalize on Verstappen’s troubles at Silverstone, only taking second place as Ferrari secured victory. The 32-year-old added: “I haven’t been that comfortable with it. [the development of the car] as I was at the beginning, let’s put it that way.
“I think I have some work to do to figure out what’s going on and I hope to have a simpler weekend here in Austria.”
